Jets fans are upset with the Patrik Laine trade

Although there are some fans who are happy for Patrik Laine and relish the opportunity to watch their former star succeed elsewhere, the common sentiment in Jets Nation was to bring him back home to where it all began in Winnipeg.

Realistically, bringing Patrik Laine back to Winnipeg would have been a difficult task for general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff. Amidst current signing negotiations with UFA Cole Perfetti, Laine's current contract in Columbus was too steep to consider.

The general consensus around Patrik Laine comes down to his overall well being. Montreal has been known to be a "fish bowl" market with a cut-throat local media and fanbase.

Freshly out of the NHLPA's players assistance program, it's safe to say that Laine is still extremely fragile. If Patrik Laine fails to be a 30+ goal scorer, Jets fans are concerned that his time in Montreal could be detrimental to his mental health.
