The Winnipeg Jets highly anticipated summer development camp is all wrapped up, and Kevin Cheveldayoff seems pleased with the results.
«These camps are great, It just shows how much the game has evolved. These players are craving knowledge, they're craving working with coaches, they want to talk to people and they want to learn and grow. That's what the development camp, that's the angle or slant for us, isn't so much about player evaluation as it is player orientation and player education.»
The camp was overall a massive success. The Jets got to see a glimpse of what the future holds for the organization. Prospects like Alfons Freij, Brad Lambert, Kevin He, and newly acquired Dylan Coghlan were able hit the ice and showcase their skillsets.
The development camp also posed an opportunity for newly hired head coach Scott Arniel to get acquiainted with a few of his players and assert himself as the new bench boss for the Winnipeg Jets.
«Part of the process you want to see how players do grow year over year, not just physically but emotionally and mentally,» said Cheveldayoff.
It will be interesting to see how the prospects continue to develop ahead of the 2024-2025 NHL season.
