The Dallas Stars have come out with breaking news which will generate millions of dollars worth of revenue losses for NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

Starting in September, Dallas Stars enthusiasts will be able to watch games on the Victory+ streaming platform.
The Stars will stream all their games on VICTORY+, a new streaming service free for fans in the North Texas area. This move significantly impacts the revenue Bettman expected from pay-per-view services. The Stars have launched this free in-market streaming service for fans in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas through a 7-year deal with A Parent Media Co.
Due to the free streaming service subscription, NHL comissioner Gary Bettman will be losing viewership revenue from this large geographical area. This is causing considerable concern for the NHL as free streaming platforms could become the new norm for watching games. If other teams start to follow the trend, it could potentially lead to substantial revenue losses from their current television contracts.
