Scott Billeck, a sports writer for the Winnipeg Jets has recently announced that Cole Perfetti was never on the trade block.
Headlines regarding Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas have been non stop the past few weeks. It was confirmed that the Winnipeg Jets were aggressively head hunting Necas, but a trade never came to fruition.
Jets enthusiasts were up in arms as rumours were circulating that Kevin Cheveldayoff proposed a trade to the Hurricanes that entailed a trade package that included Cole Perfetti, but Billeck has recently put the rumours to bed.
«Still seeing that the #NHLJets offered Perfetti to Carolina. This didn't happen. Carolina wanted Perfetti in a possible trade. The Jets didn't want to trade him. And ultimately, any deal for Martin Necas wasn't going to happen as he wasn't going to sign long-term in Winnipeg.»
It appears that Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff was never interested in trading Perfetti and views him as an important asset to the future success of the organization.
