Breaking News out of Winnipeg as the Jets announce they have re-signed defenceman Dylan DeMelo to a contract extension.

This comes as a massive move for Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff who looks to make key strategic decision heading into the NHL off season. The contract extension is reported to be a 4 year valued at $4,900,000. AAV per season.
DeMelo, 31, played all 82 games for the Jets last season and set new single-season career highs for points (31)and assists (28), while he led the Jets and finished second in the NHL with a +46 rating. The London, Ont. native also led the Jets in blocked shots (139) and shorthanded time-on-ice per game (2:35).
As we head further into the off-season, all eyes will be on Kevin Cheveldayoff as he navigates through his tight salary cap to keep these kind of deals flowing for the Winnipeg Jets.
