Ex-Jets defenceman Brenden Dillon comments his decision to join New Jersey Devils in free agency.
"I want to be part of something special," Dillon stated.
During a recent interview with Dimitri Filipovic on the HockeyPDOcast, Brenden Dillon goes into depth why he ultimately chose to move on from Winnipeg.
Dillon goes onto explain that the major reason he chose New Jersey was because of their exciting rebuild. There's many facets about the New Jersey Devils that impressed him, especially considering they brought in all-star goaltender Jacob Markstrom and hired coach Sheldon Keefe from the Toronto Maples Leafs.
"It is craziness. This was my first time testing the UFA market," Dillon said."... You are anxious. You are stressed. You are also excited at the same time."
Dillon also commented that he was enthused about their projected starting roster and all the elite talent the New Jersey Devils possess.
In addition to the new goaltender and head coach, Dillon admitted that having a potential line mate like Brett Pecse enticed him as they recently signed the defenceman to the Devils squad.
Despite having great offers from other teams, Dillon felt like the right decision for him moving forward was to move to New Jersey to be part of something new and special with the Devils.
