A potential huge trade is brewing up between the Winnipeg Jets and the New Jersey Devils.

As we look back at the 2023-2024 NHL season, the Winnipeg Jets suffered another disappointing campaign as they were ousted from the first round of the playoffs for a second year in a row.
When breaking down what went wrong for the Jets, its very clear they need help on their back-end as the Jets blue liners couldn't match up against their opponents. A new answer could be presenting itself as the Jets are rumoured to be looking to scoop up right handed shot defenseman John Marino from the New Jersey Devils.
Marino is a solid depth defenseman who is known to be a great two-way player capable of joining the offensive rush, but also a stay at home defender who can block shots.
Marino is also noted to be an effective puck mover who harnesses elite transition play abilities in the neutral zone. He very well could be the exact type of defender the Winnipeg Jets are looking for looking ahead to next season.
Marino is currently locked in at a 3 year deal with the Devils worth over $4 million AAV, making him an affordable pickup for general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff. As the Jets navigate through their tight salary cap this off-season, John Marino could be a key missing piece to the Jets future success.
Last year for the Devils, Marino notched 4 goals and 21 assists and was a -6 rating through 75 regular season games.
