Breaking news out of Winnipeg as the Toronto Leafs seem to be very interested in acquiring top prospect Rutger McGroargy from the Jets.

With the highly anticipated NHL off-season rapidly approaching, the latest talks in the trade rumour mill involve the Toronto Maple Leafs as general manager Brad Treliving seems to be keeping a close eye on 20 year old Rutger McGroargy.
Rumours of McGroargy to be used as a potential trade option stems from NHL insider Elliot Friedman as he expressed on his 32 Thoughts podcast the Winnipeg Jets top prospect is "unhappy" with the Jets organization.
Sources have confirmed that McGroargy has opted out to play in the NHL and has chosen to develop in the NCAA for another season with the University of Michigan instead.
"NHL insider Nick Kypreos, has suggested that Toronto might need to part with prospect Fraser Minten and their 2024 first-round draft pick to seal the deal. This potential trade scenario raises eyebrows and stirs debate among Leafs fans and hockey analysts. Minten, a 2022 second-round pick, has shown promise as a center with a two-way game. Surrendering him and a valuable first-round pick would be a significant gamble for the Leafs."

Could we potentially see a draft pick swap between the two Canadian organizations? Rutger McGroargy was selected 14th overall in the 2022 draft and could be used as enticing trade bait for the Winnipeg Jets.
