The Winnipeg Jets are entering a turbulent time as we enter the height of the NHL off-season.

The latest frenzy surrounds former Winnipeg Jet Patrick Laine and Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman Ivan Provorov in a deal that could see them come to Winnipeg.
TSN hockey insider Deren Dregger reports that Columbus Blue Jackets general manager John Davidson is open for buisness and has expressed serious interest to Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff to make a blockbuster deal happen.
Patrik Laine is a sore spot for the Winnipeg Jets. Its no secret that the pinnacle of his career was when he was playing for the Jets and found lots of success in the province of Manitoba. Laine was once in the conversation with Auston Matthews as the best modern day goal scorer.
Also, Provorov has made bad headlines in the past for being anti LGTBQ+, which might not be a good look for the Jets.
The 2016 No. 2 pick averaged 37 goals per 82 games during the first four seasons of his career with the Winnipeg Jets. Since joining Columbus during the 2020-21 campaign, he's averaged 30 goals per 82 contests but hasn't played more than 56 games a season. The 25-year-old is signed through 2025-26 with an $8.7-million cap hit.

Meanwhile, Ivan Provorov is an interesting conversation for Jets fans. Although his play has been inconsistent since being traded from the Philadelphia Flyers, he's a cheap pickup that could solve some defensive issues on the Jets Blue line.
The 2015 No. 7 pick is under contract through next season with a $4.725-million cap hit. The Kings retained $2.025 million annually as part of the trade.

Sources are saying that Jets top prospect Rutger McGroarty would be used as the incentive to make this trade happen. Could we see Laine return home to Winnipeg?
