The Winnipeg Jets are set to draft in the second round of the 2024 NHL playoffs.

In honour of the 2024 NHL draft commencing today, we take a look at some of the second round draft stories in Jets history, and in this case, the busts.
Lukas Sutter, a member of the highly respected Sutter family, was drafted by Winnipeg Jets in the second and was selected 39th overall during the 2012 NHL entry draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
of the Sutter hockey family is the only notable bust; the selection is seen now as a reach that didn't pan out as he did not sign with the Jets' organization. He re-entered the draft two years later and was selected in the seventh round (200th overall) by the New York Islanders, but after 2014-15 was out of professional hockey
.
Sutter was never really able to adjust to the level of competition needed to make it as a pro hockey player. Sutter was a defensive liability, although he did have some overall flashes of brilliance, particularly in his aggressive style of play.
Let's hope the Winnipeg Jets don't have another Sutter repeat in this the second round of this years draft. General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff will need to be diligent in his selection to help bolster the Jets farm system.
