As the debut of the 2024-2025 NHL season inches closer, Jets Latest gives fans a glimpse into the Winnipeg Jets third defensive pairing.

The third defensive pairing for the Winnipeg Jets has emerged as an interesting conversation for fans. Hockey analysts have projected Colin Miller and Ville Heinola as the third pairing options for head coach Scott Arniel, and Jets enthusiasts seem to be quite concerned.
Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff made bold statements regarding the promotion of some of their top prospects, and Ville Heinola has emerged as one of those young players looking to fill big shoes next season.
The veteran and the rookie. Well, not quite, but close. Heinola has had a string of bad luck to start his professional career. This two-year deal signed in the offseason will certainly be the last 'test' with Winnipeg for the young, Finnish defender. Unable to fully find a fit over the past few seasons, Heinola's best opportunity came in camp last fall, but a broken ankle derailed what was looking to be his first full NHL season.

Miller, who also had a tough go under Rick Bowness this past year, joined the Jets as a trade deadline acquisition, but hardly found his way into the lineup. He will look to fill a sandpaper role left behind by the two veteran departures, while helping nourish the life of young Heinola.

The honourable mentions for the third pairing are Logan Stanley, Elias Salomonsson, Dmitry Kuzmin, Dylan Coghlan, Haydn Fleury, Simon Lundmark. Fans can anticipate any of the above mentioned to be slotted in at any point if Heinola and Miller prove to be incapable.
